Food is one of the first worries for Indian travellers. Here is how it works on our packages, and how to manage on your own.

You can eat well in Thailand, even if you prefer Indian food or are vegetarian. A little planning makes the difference.
Indian food on our packages
Every Trip to Asia package includes Indian food (3 meals) during the trip. Meals are arranged as part of the itinerary, so you are not searching for a restaurant after a long day of sightseeing. If you have dietary needs, tell us when you enquire so we can plan for them.
Finding Indian food on your own
- Bangkok has a number of Indian restaurants, including around Phahurat, the area known as Little India.
- Pattaya and Phuket have Indian restaurants in the main tourist areas.
- Ask your hotel or guide for a current recommendation, as places open and close.
Eating vegetarian in Thailand
- Look for food marked jay, the Thai term for strict vegetarian food.
- Say gin jay (I eat vegetarian food) or ask for food without meat and fish sauce.
- Fish sauce and shrimp paste are in many dishes, so always ask.
- Fruit, fresh juices, plain rice and vegetable stir-fries are easy, safe choices.
Thai dishes Indian travellers often enjoy
- Pad thai (ask for the version without egg or shrimp if needed).
- Mango with sticky rice.
- Fresh fruit shakes and coconut water.
